What is CBD?

CBD (cannabidiol) is a natural compound found in hemp plants. It's non-intoxicating, completely legal in the UK, and it won't make you feel high.

It's one of over 100 cannabinoids in the plant, and it's the one that's been studied most for its interaction with the body's own regulatory systems. CBD is not cannabis, and it's not THC.

How does CBD work?

Your body has a built-in regulatory network called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). It helps maintain balance across functions like sleep, mood, immune response, and recovery.

CBD interacts with the ECS by supporting the receptors that keep things in check. It doesn't override anything. It works with what's already there.

If you'd like to go deeper, we've written a full guide to the endocannabinoid system.

Not all CBD is the same

There are three main types, and they each work differently. We use all three across our range, depending on the product.

Used in our oils

Broad Spectrum

CBD plus other cannabinoids and terpenes that work together naturally. THC is reduced to trace levels, within UK legal limits.

We extract ours using supercritical CO₂ — widely considered the gold standard. It's clean, solvent-free, and preserves the compounds that matter. This is what we use in our CBD oils.

Used in our gummies

Full Spectrum

The most complete extract. Keeps everything the plant produces, including trace amounts of THC (within legal limits). The compounds enhance each other in what's known as the entourage effect.

Our gummies use cold-pressed extraction, which preserves more of the plant's natural profile. It takes longer and doesn't scale as easily, but the result is worth it. This is what we use in our gummies.

Used in our chocolate

CBD Isolate

Pure CBD on its own. We use isolate in our chocolate because it lets the single-origin Colombian cacao shine through. The chocolate tastes excellent, and the CBD does its job quietly in the background.

Most brands extract using ethanol — it's faster and cheaper, but harsher on the plant. We chose methods that keep more of what nature intended.

Not sure where to start?

The format matters more than the type. Oil is fast-acting (hold under your tongue for 60 seconds). Gummies and chocolate take a little longer but the effects tend to last longer too.

Most people start with one format and discover what fits their routine. That's exactly what our Discovery Set is for.
